The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted all businesses, bar none. The mass closures and layoffs, delays, and many setbacks have made many nervous about taking the leap of faith and going for their dreams.

At Four Tree Coaching, I, too, had unexpected challenges, which brought in several difficulties. But despite the obstacles, Four Tree Coaching is more resilient and stronger than ever. I adjusted and adapted to the current situation and even helped a few enterprising individuals get businesses off the ground and running.

While labour shortage and inflation made it difficult to find workers, particularly the blue-collar type, prices have skyrocketed on materials to build your products and service your clients. These challenges caused business owners to focus inward on the lack of people and supply challenges instead of planning for the future and growing their businesses. I believe this is about to change.

Over the next year, I hope to recover completely and grow my client base. I also hope to introduce changes that offer convenience and even better results. Here are some changes I am expecting.

1. We narrowly miss a recession

I believe we will narrowly miss a recession in Canada, and our overall output will be fair, with some sectors doing very well. The demand for business coaching will increase as so many baby boomer business owners want to sell or wind down giving opportunities to our youth.

2. Reduced interest rates

Interest rates will come down in the last half of 2023, signaling some positive news for our economy and improving sales activity in the housing market. With so many companies connected to the building industry and real estate in general, this is a significant benefit for communities.

3. Small businesses recover

Over the next few months, there will still be a large number of small businesses that will be dealing with high debt created during COVID-19, but they will be able to see some light at the end of the tunnel. With some guidance and fresh thinking, they can put themselves back on track.

4. New blood enters the marketplace

As the old guard retires and makes way for fresh talent, growth opportunities are pretty much a given. Buyers who left their traditional jobs now looking for the flexibility and freedom that ownership might provide can depend on me to show them the ropes and get them on the road to success.

5. Demand for commodities and services will increase

Barring another pandemic, the demand for recreational items and activities, travel, and other vacation options will continue to be high. People want more than ever to enjoy life, which offers opportunities and makes starting a new business a great idea.

6. Private and group coaching will increase

The demand for middle-level leader training will increase as newer, less experienced people replace those that left or retired during the Great Resignation period. Demand for my services will increase as a way to help new leaders grow in small-midsized companies where more formal leadership training programs don't usually exist. With my specific expertise, I can help develop those leaders in their new roles.
