There are many changes that COVID-19 brought about in businesses worldwide. Still, the significant impact of this pandemic was seen on small businesses juggling with establishing their foothold in the market. Many factors come into play in defining how strong one can lay a strong foundation for a business. However, it takes time and favorable conditions under which one works to make this happen. During the pandemic, conditions were not at all in favor of small businesses in general.
Impact of COVID-19 on our business
High absenteeism in the workplace has continued due to COVID-19, Flu, and other illnesses. It made it difficult to make and keep business appointments due to people being off sick or covering for those sick.
Our recent communication patterns
Recent changes in the way we communicate have necessitated more reminders. We are now presented with more opportunities to alter scheduled times, meet virtually via Zoom, and limit in-person meetings. All of these changes have been made with the aim of keeping everyone safe while operating remotely.
Challenges associated with working remotely
The challenges of working remotely include having to build rapport and trust with potential clients over Zoom rather than in-person. To address this, we have scheduled more evening and weekend appointments for clients to get to know us better. Additionally, since Zoom allows us to connect with clients from anywhere in North America, we have a larger pool of potential clients than if we were limited to in-person meetings.
Our advice
Although we may be feeling overwhelmed by having to get vaccinated every year, it is essential for us to stay up to date in order to protect our society. To further protect ourselves and others, it is important to wear a mask and frequently use hand sanitizer when visiting crowded public places.
